Dr. Carlos Donayre is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the UCLA School of Medicine, as well as a member of the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Donayre graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors from the University of Florida School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, followed by a clinical and research Vascular Surgery fellowship at the University of Rochester. He takes an active role in teaching, having trained 13 vascular surgery fellows as an integral member of the Vascular Surgery Fellowship, and was recently awarded Faculty Teacher of the Year at Harbor-UCLA in 2004.

Dr. Donayre has authored 25 book chapters and 74 articles in peer reviewed journals. He has mentored 8 residents and students in the research laboratory. Dr. Donayre is considered an endovascular pioneer. Along with Drs. Rodney White and Thomas Fogary, he participated in the first AneuRx aortic stent graft placement in the United States at Harbor-UCLA on June 3, 1996. He has given over 50 invited lectures at symposia and grand rounds throughout the country and internationally, primarily on advances in aortic stent grafting. Away from the hospital, Dr. Donayre enjoys spending time with his wife, Sandy, and his three children.
